The AS Roma striker’s agent insists that the Blues will regret letting the striker leave Stamford Bridge, but the youngster owes a lot to the London club.
AS Roma striker Fabio Borini remains thankful to Chelsea despite his lack of success at the English club.
Chelsea signed the young Italian in 2007 while he was a teen at his youth club Bologna. He was let go by Chelsea as a free-agent after the club failed to agree on a new contract.
While talking to Radio Calciomercato, the striker’s agent Marco De Marchi said:
“It’s easy to say now that Chelsea made a mistake in letting him go.”
The agent appreciated the Premier League side’s role in the development of the young player.
“Myself and Fabio owe a lot to Chelsea and we thank them for helping the boy to grow in his career.”
The player has made rapid growth in his career, and from an amateur who was being neglected at Chelsea, he has become a player who is now wanted by top clubs in Italy.
The agent suggested that Borini wanted to stay in London, and was disappointed when they told the striker that he is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
“Let’s just say that we are a little disappointed with the way it ended [in Chelsea].”
The striker was loaned by Chelsea to Swansea City, where his scoring feet played a vital role in the Swans return to the Premier League. He scored six goals in 15 appearances for the Welsh side.
The 20-year-old was picked up by Parma as a free-agent before being loaned to Giallorossi before the start of the ongoing season. In January, A.S Roma signed 50 percent of the Italian’s rights for approximately 4.7 million Euros.
The striker has already netted seven goals in his 13 appearances for the club.
Given his present form, Italian national team manager Cesare Prandelli is seriously considering selecting the Italian U-21 star in his senior team squad in preparations for the upcoming Euro 2102.
