The striker’s agent reveals that despite his inclusion in the national squad, the Italian is focused on his club’s upcoming fixtures.
Fabio Borini’s agent, Marco De Marchi, told the press that the young footballer is resolute about his club’s important matches ahead, and is not thinking about the upcoming European championship yet.
While talking to TMW, Borini's agent said:
“He’s not thinking about Euro 2012. He’s thinking of the present which is America and then the derby against Lazio.”
The 20-year-old was part of the Italian Under-21 team, but has been called up for Giro Azzurro after the Italy boss Cesare Prandelli was impressed with the striker's “determination and generosity” on the field.
The A.S Roma player is expected to start against America in the mid-week friendly.
However, his agent insists that the player refuses to get carried away, and will keep his mind in the present, despite the fact that the European Championship is just months away.
The former Parma forward is expected to take the space left vacant by Cesare Prandelli’s attackers due to injuries.
The agent insisted that being admitted into the national side is a milestone in any player’s career, and it is a great time for his client too.
“Reaching the international side is an important point for any footballer. Fabio is just 20 and he’s living through an extraordinary moment.” De Marchi said
The agent insisted that his client is not just a man of good skills, but of a good character too.
“He has a really strong character which means he’s always balanced through the good and the bad times. He won’t stop here. His hard work and his dedication will take him far.”
The forward has already scored seven goals in 15 appearances for A.S Roma this season. The Italian national has played for Chelsea and Swansea City in the Premier League before returning to Italy to join Parma on a Bosman transfer.
The young striker has been the subject of a lot of praise by Cesare Prandelli. The Italy’s manager admitted that he had been following Borini for some time, and commended that the talented striker has a great future ahead of him.
