The former World Cup winning captain has gone on to state his opinion that Paolo Cannavaro has proved himself to be the best defender in the Serie A at the moment.
The career of Paolo Cannavaro has mostly been overshadowed by the achievements of his brother. However, during his time at Napoli, he has managed to make his own presence felt and resonate through the Italian football.
He has travelled to a few clubs around Italy and began his career at Napoli; however, things did not work for the centre back and he was only able to make two appearances in the 1998-99 season. Paolo decided to move to Parma, where he spent seven seasons
at the club.
It was not until 2006 that he was recalled by his current outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003, and he made his mark at the club level and has performed consistently in an otherwise vulnerable and shaky defence.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paolo-Cannavaro-c29080, went on to suggest that not taking into account any biases, but he feels that his sibling has performed exceptionally well in the past three years to become one of the best in the business in the Serie A.
While giving an interview to Tuttosport, he went on to comment that the Partenopei stalwart was immense in his performances for the club. When commenting on the blunders made by his brother, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Nesta-c4735 had also
made errors along the way. He also commended Coach Walter Mazzarri for keeping faith in the former Parma man.
He was quoted to have said:
“It's not for me to say, but in the last three years, I think he has become one of the best defenders in Italy. Yes, he has committed some errors, but so did [Alessandro] Nesta. I have to credit [Napoli coach Walter] Mazzarri, who has
sent him on to the pitch relaxed and confident.”
He also went on to comment on his desire to return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926, and remarked:
“I hope to one day return to Italy though and work as a sporting director. And in my hometown would be even better.”
Fabio retired from football in 2011.
