Fabio Cannavaro reveals regrets of not ending his career at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003: Serie A news
Former Italian defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-Cannavaro-c13164, has admitted that he still regrets his decision for not ending his career at Napoli.
Cannavaro emerged from the youth ranks of Napoli in 1992 and after spending just three years at the club, he moved to Parma in 1995. The Italian World Cup winning captain has achieved many big things in his career but the only
thing that is missing is that he could not become any club’s icon.
The Italian legend believes that he should have ended his career at Napoli from where he started playing the game.
The 38-year-old admitted that he feels disappointed when he sees the likes of Paolo Maldini and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francesco-Totti-c13940 being considered as icons of their respective clubs. Maldini played his whole career with A.C Milan while Totti is
with A.S Roma for the past 20 years.
While talking to the reporters, Cannavaro said, “I started my career at Napoli and would’ve wanted to retire with a Napoli shirt on my back too. It disappoints me that I was not able to be what Paolo Maldini was for Milan or Francesco
Totti for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603. I had hoped to become a symbol of my hometown club.”
Cannavaro recently retired from the game due to constant injury problems while playing for UAE Club, Al-Ahli. He was the only defender to have won the Ballon d’Or award in 2006. The defender changed as many as seven clubs during
his almost 20 year playing career.
The former Real Madrid star spent the majority of his career at Parma, where he went onto make more than 200 appearances in his seven year stay.
Fabio’s younger brother, Paolo, is the current Napoli captain and has led the club to success recently. Cannavaro is delighted with the recent success of his boyhood club and is backing them to win the league this season. The former
Juventus star is also predicting a bright UEFA Champions League campaign for the Partenopei side and is confident that they can succeed in Europe too.
