Fabio Capello accuses Jose Mourinho of showing lack of respect over England job claims
England boss Fabio Capello accused Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho of being disrespectful after the Portuguese claimed he was offered the England job before it went to Capello.
Mourinho claimed that he was just hours away from signing the deal to become the new England national team coach. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager said that he was in contention to become the Three Lions’ boss after Steve McLaren but he backed out at the very
last minute as club football was his preference.
Capello insisted that the Portuguese showed a lack of respect towards him, as he went ahead and talked about being approached by the English Football Association (FA) for the job. He added that he himself chooses not to speak about his relationship with
other clubs as it is not right.
Capello told reporters, “I don't speak about the relationship with the other clubs, for respect for other managers. I don't like to speak about my relationship with the clubs, with other people. These are my personal secrets. I'll never tell you about what
really happened in my career.”
Capello added that it is very normal for a national team to talk to different managers when they need one. He said that the Chairman of the FA should be asked whether Mourinho was approached before him or not since he is the best man to answer that question.
The Italian added, “I think it's serious. Every time a club or a different national team decides to choose a manager, they decide to speak with a lot of managers. It's normal. It's not different. This is a question for the chairman that chose me, not a question
for me.”
Fabio Capello was appointed England manager in December 2007 after Steve McLaren was sacked following a dismal Euro 2008 qualifying campaign.
The Italian managed England at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and reached the knockout stages of the tournament where they eventually lost to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 4-1. England’s poor performance at the World Cup sparked widespread speculation over Capello’s future
with the national side.
However, the FA announced in July last year that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello would remain in charge of the Three Lions until the European Championships in 2012.
