Former England manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 regarding the manager’s position.
Capello was spotted at the UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich and Chelsea at the Allianz Arena and was even seen speaking to the Chelsea skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager, Capello has been linked with a move to
Chelsea.
Despite the interim manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo leading the Blues to the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League wins this season, his future at the club is not secured. The former Chelsea player took over as the manager after Andre Villas-Boas was sacked in March.
Villas-Boas arrived from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 after winning the treble with the Portuguese giants, but failed to make an impact at the London club. After a decent start to the season, the Blues found themselves dumped out of the Carling Cup and out of the English Premier
League top four.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who is not known to be patient with underperforming managers, sacked Villas-Boas in March. Being unable to find a suitable replacement on such a short notice, Roberto Di Matteo was appointed as the caretaker manager.
The former assistant manager’s first task was to ensure Chelsea resumed some stability in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League. He succeeded in the cup competitions, but was unable to revive the London side in the English Premier League.
Chelsea finished at sixth place on the English Premier League table, below winners Manchester City, Manchester United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United. While they were unable to secure a place in the Champions League next season via the Premier
League, they had a shot after making it to the final of the European competition.
Since the Blues have won the Champions League, they have automatically qualified for the competition next season. That leads to questions regarding Roberto Di Matteo’s future at the club, while Fabio Capello confirmed he had not been approached by the club
as yet.
Capello confirmed in an interview:
"There has been no contact between me and Chelsea."
