Fabio Capello happy with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173
England manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello, has said that Rio Ferdinand’s decision not to meet him after a game at Old Trafford did not go down too well with him. He claims that Ferdinand was at fault for not coming and discussing the decision to reinstate John Terry
as the captain of the National side.
Capello has reinstated John Terry as the captain of England after a year’s punishment. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 in the Euro 2012 qualifier on Saturday at the Millennium Stadium.
Capello also had a soft corner for Terry after the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 game, where captains were substituted one after the other while Terry looked upon.
Rio Ferdinand’s persistent injury problems have been mooted as one of the reasons behind the defender being stripped off the captaincy. Furthermore, the manager is reportedly not happy with the conduct of the Manchester United defender.
Rio Ferdinand has not directly spoken about his disappointment since the armband has been taken off him. However, it is strongly believed that Rio is not just unhappy at the decision itself, but also the fact that he wasn’t consulted or informed in the right
manner; Ferdinand only came to know about the decision after it was made public.
On the contrary, Capello has laid the blame on the 31-year-old, suggesting that it was Ferdinand who failed to meet him after Manchester United’s UEFA Champions League game against Marseille at Old Trafford.
"I tried to meet him (Ferdinand) when Manchester United played against Marseille but he told me no. I can understand everything, but I need to make decisions. I think I will be happy and will meet him in the future." said the England manager.
He said he is unaware of the reasons why Rio did not meet him but the fact is that he simply did not turn up. Capello said that he had consulted some players personally before coming to the conclusion that John Terry will regain the National teams’ captaincy.
He said that he had made up his mind during the Denmark game where he felt that Terry was treated a touch unfairly and it was about time that his punishment should come to an end.
Capello also believes that he might not have made the right decision in the first place to take the arm band off Terry.
“Sometimes I regret what happened. It is possible to do some things better, but it is the past. I can understand everything, but I need to make decisions." Capello said.
Capello believes that this is the best time for Terry to regain the arm band, as England are without the services of both Rio Ferdinand (previous captain) and Steven Gerrard (previous vice-captain), both of whom are nursing their respective injuries.
In an important Euro 2012 qualifier, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 need a genuine leader to lead the team and the Italian coach thought that it was appropriate to make Terry the long-term captain of the National side.
"I thought that it was time for John Terry, after punishment, to return and be captain. I know that Rio Ferdinand and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 are not fit. I knew it was the moment, with one game which is so important, to have one captain like John Terry.”
