The former Three Lions chief has revealed that a major problem for the British national team is that players do not perform at par with their club performances.

Mail.
Capello highlighted the importance of the first group game of a major tournament, and insisted that a good result in the opening match can be a big boost for any team.
However, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager added that a draw or a defeat in the opening game can start ringing alarm bells for any side, and pointed out that the bad fortune with England was that they drew their first match of the 2010 World Cup.
The former Real Madrid manager pointed out to the difference in the performance level of players when they play for their clubs, as compared to when they play for their national teams.
The veteran tactician stressed that it was the diminished performances of the players in the English squad that compounded his troubles in South Africa 2010, and admitted that the crisis was a difficult one for him to solve.
While taking to the press, the 65-year-old said:
“If you win the opening game in the group, you make a big step forward. If you lose, or sometimes even draw, the pressure is on. At the World Cup in 2010 we drew the first game and it started. I represented the country and as manager I was really aware of
that. Sometimes the problem is that the players don’t perform for their national team in the same way as they do for their club. It is difficult to solve.”
Capello also reflected on the controversy surrounding ‘Capello’s Index’, and maintained that the sole purpose of the statistical tool was to increase the understanding about the players.
The former England manager criticised the press for making an issue out of nothing, and insisted that the index will start to have more meaning as the time progresses.
The infamous Capello's Index has been re-launched with improved features for Euro 2012.
