The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national team manager has called on the European Football Association to bring the ‘stealing’ of young players to an end.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello has expressed his concerns over the ‘stealing’ of young stars at club level, and has urged UEFA to make sure this practice stops.
Capello accused the DFB for backing the German clubs in poaching of Turkish players at the club level. The former Juventus tactician admitted that these players favour playing for Germany later on rather than their own country.
He feels that it is ‘unfair’ on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026, and the DFB should be warned against this habit.
The England manager held formal talks with UEFA President, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Platini, over this issue, and it is believed that the governing body will take action on Capello’s concerns.
Capello believes that the players should not be allowed to represent a country of their own choice neither they should be allowed to acquire new passports. He feels that Germany used unfair practice during the 2010 FIFA World Cup
by including Turkish descent players in their final squad.
While talking to The National, the 65-year-old further stated:
"A line needs to be drawn. Richer clubs are talent-scouting and stealing players by bidding higher and not thinking about the consequences for those countries. These players are acquiring new passports. Germany had five of Turkish
origin who opted to represent them and we all know what happened.”
The former A.C Milan boss believes that UEFA should ensure more protection for smaller clubs, as big clubs poach their talented youngsters by offering double or triple amount in salaries.
“I do not accept that, having trained as a player, a different team can pop by and steal the player from me. Uefa should pass new rules allowing people to reap the seed that's been sown instead of having talents leave when they
receive a major offer.” Capello concluded.
Real Madrid midfielder, Mesut Ozil, is a prime example of what Capello is referring to. Though the playmaker was born in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 and automatically qualifies for the German team, Capello believes that Ozil has a Turkish background
and he should play for The Crescent-Stars.
