Felline made full use of his lead and sprinted his way through the finish line.
He was close to secure the top spot but had no answer to the Francisco Jose Ventoso’s magical form.
The Spaniard finished the race in an impressive time of 3 hours, 39 minutes and 15 seconds and occupied the top podium spot.
Fabio achieved the second position with Giacomo Nizzolo of Team RadioShack-Nissan, Damiano Caruso of Team Liquigas-Cannondale and Daniel Schorn of Team NetApp finishing at the second, the third and the fourth position.
The 22-year-old was not happy with his second place finish and noted that he was ideally placed for the top overall position at the race.
He told Cyclingnews, "It's not a bad result to be second in a stage of the Giro d'Italia in my first participation, but it's still frustrating to come so close to the win”.
“We always want the maximum result but okay - second is better than nothing".
Pozzato joined Team Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela in 2012 after marking his professional debut with Team Footon-Servetto-Fuji for the 2010-11 seasons.
Miguel Angel Rubiano helped the team with a stage 6 victory at the Giro d’Italia and Fabio’s second place finish will definitely boost the team’s confidence for the upcoming stages.
Team Manager Gianni appreciated Fabio’s performance at the race and cited, "We're happy with the result though.
“It confirms – if needed for some people but not for us – that he has a great talent. It's nice to see him expressing his disappointment with his fist after the line”.
“It shows his determination to succeed. I'm convinced that he'll become a great champion”.
