Juventus striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-Quagliarella-c13194, will undergo a minor surgery on Monday after fracturing his right cheekbone in the 22nd minute of his team’s win over Lecce recently.
The Turin giants emerged victorious by a 1-0 margin, thanks to a close range goal from substitute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Matri-c4733. The Italian international has been extremely unlucky with injuries since the last year. He suffered from snapped
knee ligaments, and was forced out of action for majority of the second-half of the 2010/11 season.
Quagliarella is looking to return to action as soon as possible, and the striker has hailed his team’s win over Serse Cosmi’s men. The former Napoli star thanked the fans for their wishes, and promises to return with the same determination.
While talking to the reporters, Quagliarella said,
“The game yesterday brought the team an excellent result, but it cost me. I’ll need surgery, but it will all be OK and I’ll return more determined than I am now. Thanks for your support.”
Quagliarella was handed only his second start of the ongoing league season, but unfortunately for him, it lasted for only 22 minutes. Juventus manager, Antonio Conte, has assured his full backing for the player, and is hoping to
have him back in the team soon. The tactician denied reports linking the striker with a move away from Juventus Arena, and insisted that he is not for sale.
While talking to the media, Conte said:
“He was never on the market. And that continues to be the case. Rumours about him have been circulating since July, but the club have focused on him. It’s just a shame that he is being followed by injuries. I hope to have him available
again as soon as possible.”
Juventus remain joint-top in the Serie A standings alongside Italian Champions, A.C Milan. The Old Lady will host Cagliari in their next league game on Sunday, January 15th, 2012.
