Fabio Scozzoli occupies Men’s 50m breaststroke gold – European SC Swimming Championships
Fabio Scozzoli of Italy occupied gold medal of the Men’s 50m breaststroke on day three of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Saturday, November 24.
Scozzoli spoiled the party of his opponents in the shortest breaststroke discipline as he seized the title. He faced tough contest from Aleksander Hetland from the start but with his notable form, Scozzoli managed to escape him over the wall for the crown.
The Italian swimmer crushed hopes of his opponents and clocked an effort of 26.18 seconds for gold medal.
His title claiming effort remained 0.02 seconds ahead of Hetland, who followed him on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 26.20 seconds.
Hetland was traced by Damir Dugonjic of Slovenia, who suffered a deficit of 0.04 seconds from his former finisher and clocked a time of 26.24 seconds for bronze medal.
Dugonjic was followed by Florent Manaudou of France, who stayed 0.05 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and reached the finishi8ng end for fourth position by hitting the wall with a timing of 26.29 seconds.
Manaudou was followed by Giacomo Perez Dortona of France, who tried hard to upset him over the finishing blockade but failed to do so. Manaudou remained 0.16 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and secured fifth place of the race by clocking a time
of 26.45 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Barry Murphy of Ireland, who stayed just an inch away from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with a timing of 26.60 seconds.
Similarly, Murphy remained 0.04 seconds faster from Erik Steinhagen of Germany, who secured seventh position of the event by posting an effort of 26.64 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was gained by Andriy Kovalenko of Ukraine, who remained 0.07 seconds slower and posted a time of 26.71 seconds.
In addition, Scozzoli received massive admiration from the audience for his notable efforts in the 50m event and said that he would try his best to please is followers by accomplishing the same at the 2012 FINA World Short Course Championships.
