The Reds take on Cardiff City in the Carling Cup final on the 26th of February and an FA Cup match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brighton-c38685, Fabio Aurelio is hoping to help his club.
Liverpool may not be competing in Europe, having not qualified for either the UEFA Champions League or the Europa League, but the club are doing rather well in domestic cup competitions.
Having knocked out Manchester City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 has one more hurdle in the shape of Cardiff City in order to claim their first trophy in over six years.
At the same time, the Merseyside club are on an impressive run in the FA Cup as well after dumping bitter rivals, Manchester United, out in the previous round.
However, Red’s defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Aurelio, has only featured for a total of 71-minutes in both cup runs, playing against Oldham Athletic in his side’s 5-1 demolition of the opponents.
The player has expressed his desire to take a more active part in both tournaments after recovering from the injury that has kept him out of the squad for a large part of the season.
He said, “Everyone wants to be involved in the trophies as long as possible. This season we’re in one final already and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to take a step closer to another one.”
Aurelio also declared himself fit and available for selection, “I am feeling good. I am enjoying training sessions every day and improving. I am available and waiting for an opportunity to get on the pitch again.”
His performance against Norwich in a reserves match backed that statement up as he put in an impressive performance on a night where Liverpool ran out 4-0 winners.
However, his attention is focused on Brighton and he believes that his teammates have an obligation to the fans to put in a solid performance.
He said, “This will be different as we are at home, so there is more responsibility on us to try and get to the next stage.”
The home side will be firm favourites to progress to the next round of the FA Cup yet it seems that Liverpool players are not overconfident and will give the opponents their due respect when the two sides meet.
