Fabiola Pulga Molina captures Women’s 100m back-stroke semi-finals - 2011 Jose Finkel Trophy
Fabiola Pulga Molina of Fiat/Minas captured the semi-finals of Women’s 100m back-stroke on day five of the 2011 Jose Finkel Trophy on September 3, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
The 36-year-old Orzechowski occupied the fastest qualification spot in the final rounds by submitting a top ranked time of 1 minute and 01.32 seconds. She was chased by Fernanda Nunes Alvarenga of FIAT/MINAS, who was 2.06 seconds behind the fastest swimmer
and reached the final as the second finest swimmer, by reporting in a wonderful time of 1 minute and 03.38 seconds.
With her stupendous qualifying efforts, Alvarenga edged out her strongest competitor, Natalia Mendes Diniz of ECP/SABESP, with a margin of 0.37 seconds, as she clocked a third best qualifying time of 1 minute and 03.75 seconds.
The top fastest swimmers were trailed by Etiene Medeiros of NN SESI CPR/PE, who remained just 0.30 seconds away from the third best qualifier and concluded her swim in a fourth fastest time of 1 minute and 04.05 seconds. Medeiros was followed by Laura Masulino
Garcia of ECP/SABESP, who was nearly one second slower than her preceding swimmer and entered the next round with a fifth fastest time of 1 minute and 05.19 seconds.
The sixth best qualifying position was secured by Rebeca Bianca Bretanha of CORINTHIANS/S.BERNAR, who stayed 0.51 seconds slower than her foregoing swimmer and clocked a time of 1 minute and 05.70 seconds.
She was traced by Thatiane Quirino of CRF/RJ, who remained just 0.17 seconds behind Bretanha on the finishing wall and produced a seventh finest time of 1 minute and 05.87 seconds. Thalandra Cavalcanti Borges of CORINTHIANS/S.BERNAR was the eighth swimmer
to get into the final, as she stayed 0.40 seconds away and posted an eighth fastest effort of the event with a timing of 1 minute and 06.27 seconds.
In addition, these swimmers will face each other once again in the final round, where the podium finishers will be awarded medals for their appreciating swims.
