Fable 2 pug games help?

i just got this game and what i need help with is when am i earning gold and when am i getting just points. like the invidividual games( not tournaments), are those just for points but i can still lose gold? and then tournaments are the only time i earn gold?

You earn gold and points doing tournamants and regular games.  

There is not a game where you don't lose/win gold.
