Fabregas-Barcelona bid irks Arsene Wenger, Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner to miss start
Arsenal centre forward, Nickla Bendtner would miss the start of the season owing to prolonged groin injury. The 22 year old hit man hasn’t recovered from his groin problem, despite going through a surgery last November. The player couldn’t recover, which was the main reason behind his disappointing World Cup campaign. His national side Denmark was eliminated in the first round, and Bendtner scored only one goal. The player has scored 49 goals in 172 appearances for the club so far, at the age of just 22.
The persistent groin injury would therefore rule out the striker from starting the new season, as Arsenal plays a tough opponent in the form over Liverpool, away at Anfield.
Arsenal may well be without club captain Cesc Fabregas, and striker Robin Van Persie, who both were World Cup finalists and played against each other in their respective teams. Spain eventually won the final, owing to a Fabregas assist to team mate Andres Iniesta, who scored the only goal of the match in extra time. Both of the players are expected to return from their prolonged World Cup leaves by 5th August, and wouldn’t be featuring in the opening match of the season.
The manager of the North London club, Arsene Wenger confirmed Bendtner’s absence from the opening match of the season, claiming he wouldn’t be available for a few opening matches. The manager added that Fabregas and Van Persie are due to be back in training by 5th August, and would then analyze the situation of the two. The manager stated that he would have to assess the physical and mental position of the players, and how well both have recovered from their World Cup campaigns.
The manager was prudent about the availability of his two World Cup finalists, and admitted that they may not feature in the first game of the season. Wenger however claimed that nothing can be confirmed, and everything depends on the work the players have been doing during their time off.
Speaking about the Fabregas-Barcelona saga, the Arsenal manager insisted that the club captain was too valuable for the club, and wouldn’t be up for sale at any price or offer whatsoever. Barcelona has made public their interest in the Spanish midfielder, and want to bring the player back to Camp Nou. Fabregas joined Arsenal back in 2003, when the player was just sixteen, and has spent seven years with the North London club. Fabregas owes his stardom, fame and ability to his “father like” mentor Arsene Wenger, who polished the player, and made him the lethal force he is.
However, the Catalans want the player back in the ranks at Barcelona. Many speculations have been published in the news so far, and many expect the midfielder to join the Catalan Giants sooner or later. Fabregas has confirmed his desire to join Barcelona, and claimed that he would only leave Arsenal for just one club, and that is Barcelona.
But the premier league club has already rejected a 29m pound offer for the Spanish midfielder, and the club has maintained its stance on the situation that the club captain is not for sale at any price. The manager stated that he is very happy with Fabregas, and his squad and other officials are happy with the player staying at the club. Fabregas has made 187 appearances for Arsenal since joining in 2003, and has scored 32 goals. The midfielder has established himself as one of the true greats of football at a young age, and would be remembered as one of the legends of football when the player calls retirement.
The manager is aware of the importance and value the player has for the club, and confirmed that Arsenal as a club has worked very hard on making him the player he is. Wenger added that the midfielder is the future of Arsenal, and that is the main reason why the club doesn’t want the Spaniard to leave.
