Fabregas believes Arsenal can overcome Barcelona
Cesc Faberegas believes that Arsenal have a shot at beating Barcelona in the Champions league. The Gunners are set to face the Spanish giants in the round of 16. Arsenal were knocked out of the previous tournament in spectacular fashion, losing 6-3 on aggregate
to Barcelona in the quarter finals. Fabregas believes that his side has improved since last time and is ready to take revenge on the Spanish champions. Speaking after the Champions league draw, the Arsenal captain said,
"This is not some mission impossible. We can win this. Barcelona are not unbeatable. If they were invincible, they would win the Champions League every year. Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have knocked them out in recent years. Maybe it's our turn
now - and why not? If we want to be champions of Europe, we have to be able to beat anyone and everyone - and that includes Barca."
Fabregas began his career with Barcelona. In September 2003, the midfielder was signed by Arsenal. Since that time, he has become one of the most influential players at the club and under the guidance of Arsene Wenger, Fabregas has become a world class player.
Earlier this year, there were rumors that Fabregas was to return to Barcelona. The Spanish giants even made a 35 million euro bid for the player but the bid was rejected by Arsenal. Since that time, Fabregas has committed his future to the London club and
it will be an emotional return to the Nou camp for the midfielder, who will be trying to put the recent transfer saga behind him.
Barcelona travel to the Emirates on the 16th of February for the first leg. During their previous match at the stadium, Fabregas suffered an injury which prevented him from playing in the second leg at the Nou camp. This time, Fabregas looks likely
to lead his team when the Gunners travel to Barcelona and is presence might just give Arsenal the edge in what promises to be an exhilarating encounter.
