The midfielder has claimed that reports comparing him to the Argentine are nonsense and that his teammate is the best player in the world.
Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas has stressed that there are similarities between him and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296, but insisted that Messi is a player without comparison.
Representing his national side in the Euro 2012, the player has adopted to the role of ‘false nine’ and carries out the duties of a forward for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 at the moment.
Considering his new position in the team, there are some who think the former Arsenal footballer carries a huge threat. A few reports even went to suggest that the threat posed by Cesc is the same as Leo.
As ridiculous as such reports sound, one must consider that the player, despite being a midfielder, has fitted quite well in the attacking position.
Barca’s outgoing manager, Pep Guardiola, was the first one who attempted to play the 25-year-old up front. Interestingly, the gamble paid off and Fabregas proved quite deadly as a striker.
It was the same for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 del Bosque, as he applied more or less the same tactics to La Furia Roja.
Although the veteran tactician has a number of forwards at his disposal, the fact that he played Fabregas as the false nine still mystifies many.
Some assume that Del Bosque does not consider the ‘forwards’ on the team as deadly as the former Gunner.
Yet, why there have been comparisons between Fabregas and Messi is something that is beyond many, including the midfielder himself.
While talking to reporters, the 25-year-old quoted:
"I have never compared myself to Messi. It is nonsense. I just play where the coach tells me. I do not think we should talk about it as he is a very different player to me. We're talking about the best player in the history of football.”
“Yes, I feel comfortable playing there; I have freedom. But to then to compare me with Messi would be a great exaggeration. Messi is one thing; Cesc Fabregas another. I don't think anybody expects me to beat five players and score a goal.”
Currently on international duty, Fabregas is expected to feature for La Roja in their Euro semi-final clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 on June 27.
