Cesc Fabregas says belief was the difference
Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas is over the moon. Last night, his side celebrated their first victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in more than two years. The Gunners thumped the English champions 3-1 at the Emirates, moving back up to second place in the league table. Meanwhile,
Chelsea show no signs of recovering from their terrible slump. Chelsea have managed to secure only six points from the last 24 available. Their abysmal performances in recent weeks have seen them surrender their impressive lead at the summit of the Barclays
Premier League. Currently, the blues sit in fourth place, six points behind leaders Manchester United.
However, Fabregas couldn’t care less about Chelsea’s troubles at the moment. The Arsenal captain took the time to savour his first victory over the Blues in more than two years. Fabregas scored the second goal for the Gunners just after half time, giving
Aresene Wenger’s side some much needed breathing space. He was full of praise for his side, saying,
“Belief was the difference. The difference between a good team and a great team is very little. We did what a great team does. We were fantastic. The league is so tight. Anyone can win it. We will try to do our best.”
Following Arsenal’s loss to Manchester United last week, Fabregas had publicly stated that the young Gunners side was afraid to lose and lacked the mental strength to get results from big matches. He had warned his team that they should change their mentality
or they will never be able to end their trophy drought. It seems as though the young side took their captain’s words to heart. Arsenal played like a team, constantly keeping Chelsea on the back foot.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873, who scored the third goal for the Gunners, dedicated the victory to the Arsenal fans, saying,
“We played some great football and wanted to do it for the fans because in recent years against Chelsea we've been disappointing.”
The win has silenced all those who doubted Arsenal’s title credentials. Now that the Gunners have ended their Chelsea curse, they are well on their way to ending their five year trophy drought.
