Fabregas trying to make it back in time to face Chelsea
Arsenal's manager, Arsene Wenger, has become highly optimistic about the fact, that the team's captain Cesc Fabregas, will be fit in time to face the reigning Premier League champions Chelsea, in the first game that the team will
be playing in October.
The prolific midfielder managed to strain his hamstring and ankle as a result of a freak goal that the player scored against Sunderland this past Saturday. The Sunderland defender, Anton Ferdinand was looking to clear the ball,
as Fabregas stuck his foot out to make a block from point blank range. The ball struck Fabregases leg and caused it to bend awkwardly, none the less the ball bounced off the midfielders foot and looped into the back of the net over the keeper, who was off
his line.
The World Cup winner, was just returning to his former best, after making a late return from the tournament. The player was flown over to Paris to help him recover faster, with the help of some expert treatment. His treatment has
been going brilliantly and way ahead of schedule, which is why the player could be in line to make a shock return to the team, before the teams trip to the Stamford Bridge.
Arsene Wenger was reported to have said: "I hope that he will be ready for the Chelsea match and that he will be fine."
"But at the moment we don't know, it's too early."
Arsenal haven't even hit mid season yet, but have been flodded with injuries to numerous players. After the team's midweek match against Tottenham, Kieran Gibbs, joined the long list of injured players at the club. The English defender was assumed to have
broken a bone in his foot, but after some examinations his injury was reported to not have been as serious as thought of initially.
Gibbs, now joins, Theo Walcott, Robin van Persie, Nicklas Bendtener, Aaron Ramsey and Cesc Fabregas on the recovery table at the club.
Despite the teams captain looking to make his return before the Chelsea game, he is more then definitely going to miss the teams Champions League match which is going to be played against Partizan Belgrade next Tuesday night.
When asked about his injury the Spanish midfielder was reported to have said: "The injury is not as bad as we first thought,"
"There is no muscle rupture and I will be back perfect in about 10 to 11 days.
"I am working with an osteopath in Paris and just working day to day.
"I think I will make the Chelsea game."
Arsenal will be hoping that Fabregas manages to make it back in time to face the Blues. This is because the team is highly dependent on the extra dimension and edge that the player provides to the side. The players absence was strongly felt in the match
against Sunderland, as Arsenal went on to draw a game, after looking like they would end up as comfortable winners in the game.
Fabregas also helps by providing the team with a moral boost, his presence is appreciated by everyone, since he is the teams captain and helps cement the team together. Despite having player's who can play in the Spaniards position,
none of the replacements can provide the extra edge that Fabregas provides to the side and Arsenal will be hoping to tap into that extra something that Fabregas provides when they take on Chelsea, since that match could potentially decide the team's season.
