With every team having played two matches, we see Barcelona at the top of the table; however, Fabregas seems to be lagging in game-play.
With Fabregas not playing as well as it was expected of him, he may run out of game-time play.
The Spanish football player plays mainly in central midfield, but has proven to be more than capable of playing as a striker, or a winger.
In fact, when he first transferred from Arsenal to Barcelona, his position of playing up in front, supporting Messi, proved to be quite profitable.
In their match against Real Sociedad, he covered up for Iniesta, and could not achieve what was needed of him.
During the match against Osasuna, he proved that he couldn’t take on Xavi’s position either. It was only until he was substituted by Pedro Rodriguez when Messi had the opportunity to score two late goals.
Tito Vilanova may be a good coach and he’s trying to find a place for Fabregas in midfield, but last season taught us already that he doesn’t do well there.
So what more is left for the Spaniard? He could be moved up front to help Messi out like he did last season. However, with more able strikers in the team, why would Vilanova want to place Fabregas up front and not them?
When Fabregas joined Barcelona, after playing in Arsenal for 8 years, he was in great shape. He had created more goal scoring-chances, made more assists, and scored more goals playing for Arsenal, than his counterparts, Iniesta, and Xavi, had made in the
same amount of matches playing for Barcelona. He was on top of his game, and could still be, if he finds his footing in the Catalan midfield.
Although Barcelona have started off the season with a bang, Fabregas may drag them down later on, and Tito has to find him a position to play in where he’ll be appreciated.
If Fabregas doesn’t fix himself up soon, he may be watching Barcelona play from the sidelines.
