Fabregas’s international career, Barca dream is not a reality
At a very young age of 23, Francesc Fabregas has achieved what most footballers could not achieve in a life time. Cesc has achieved all that there was to achieve at the international level.
Spain won the UEFA EURO Cup in 2008, breaking the jinx that had left La Furia Roja trophy less for decades. Fabregas might not have been in the starting eleven for the Spanish squad, but his substitute appearances were of utmost importance.
Indeed Fabregas got a hat full of assists to his name. Fast forward two years and Fabregas made the most important assist of his life. The young midfielder may never create a more important goal than the one he made for Andres Iniesta in the FIFA World Cup
final of 2010. Spain won the holy grail of all the trophies - the World Cup - thus becoming only the first European nation to win it outside their continent.
To almost any football fan, Cesc Fabregas' journey to Barcelona is inevitable. Even few Barcelona die-hard fans consider Cesc as a part of their club. They claim in this way that the boy, who saw his first game at 6 months in Barcelona and worked through
the youth system with Messi and Iniesta is a part of the team. It’s very easy to romanticize this whole idea, but here are some of the facts:
No Faith
Barcelona showed no faith in Fabregas. If Barca would have thought that Cesc would turn into the talent he is, they would have never sold Fabregas to Arsene Wenger. Arsenal is Cesc Fabregas' youth club. The talented Spanish midfielder joined the club at
the age of sixteen. Cesc even played for the first team at 16. Around the world, in most people books that counts as youth.
Financial woes
Money is one of the biggest factors in the football world. There is no doubt that Barcelona won’t be able to afford their ‘so called youth product’ Cesc Fabregas. The simple truth is that Barcelona debts will be catching up to them and with the renovation
of their stadium eating up their cash reserves. They don’t have enough money to land Fabregas at Barcelona. In simple worlds, Barcelona can’t afford Cesc Fabregas.
Starting time
Barcelona’s recent signing, Mascherano, is an in-between player for them. After Mascherano’s addition to Barca’s squad, Fabregas won’t get the game time or the position he deserves.
Moreover, it was very visible against Braga that Cesc flourishes in the Arsenal system because he is the centre point. You only need to watch Spain to understand his position in the current Barcelona set up as a benchwarmer.
Xavi’s retirement
Xavi is still playing in Barcelona. Fabregas will not get regular first team place until Xavi retires or starts getting too old to play for an entire season. Barca won’t be able to utilise Fabregas.
Fabregas can continue developing at Emirates in a system that is built around him. Xavi can continue being the Barcelona hero. Because of his continued rate of development, Barcelona will have a better player. Meanwhile, Barcelona can gather the funds required
to purchase Arsenal’s skipper from a team he loves.
There's a complete misunderstanding in this whole thing. Cesc does not want to leave Arsenal. He does want to play for Barcelona. These statements are completely separate.
Moreover, Fabregas can develop Arsenal's next generation of midfielders. He may also win the English Premier League this time.
Arsene Wenger has no reason to let him go. The 23-year-old, Fabregas has another decade in football and there is no rush to do anything. Everybody wins if he stays at Arsenal for a few more seasons.
