Fabri Gonzalez: "We had a little more luck" – La Liga News
Granada claimed a memorable victory against Athletic Bilbao at San Mames. Inigo Lopez scored for El Grana as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabri-c13206 Gonzalez stated after the match that his team were lucky to have won the match.
Fabri said he was "very happy" with the victory his team achieved at San Mames, whilst acknowledging that they had a little more luck than their counterparts.
He said they are a humble team back in the Spanish top tier after a long break, and victories like these are important for the fans.
Staying on the subject, he highlighted the importance of team play in the Granada outfit and believes that it is the only way they will be able to get the points needed to survive in top flight football.
"For me it is a pleasure for the players. We're a humble team back after many years and knew that we were not going to break records and statistics. The important thing is that we get as a team, have personality and get points to survive, which is what this
team wants," he explained.
Galician coach stressed that the final result of 0-1 responded to the merit of his team which has achieved a great result against a worthy opponent in a tough encounter.
Fabri stressed that they covered spaces well and played to their strengths that allowed them to achieve this great result.
He also pointed out that they have improved defensively that enabled them to halt Athletic in their gears.
The Granada man also took out time to apologize for the small 'squabble' he had with members of Athletic bench in the second half.
"There are times when one is very hot, but it was the third or fourth time that the team threw the ball out and did not return it. I know that Bielsa asked to throw the ball, but one gets a little nervous and I apologize for it," he explained.
Inigo Lopez scored the goal for Granada and stated that he was very happy with his first goal in Spanish top flight football, but recalled that in lower echelons of domestic football he has scored goals regularly.
Lopez dedicated his brace to his relatives who came from Logrono to watch the match. He also stressed that it was a great achievement for him to score and play at San Mames as he has followed the team since he was a kid.
Granada are currently 18th in La Liga rankings, on level points with Sporting Gijon and Real Sociedad.
Athletic Bilbao on the other hand are in the top half of the table, occupying the 9th place. They are on equal points with RCD Espanyol.
