  1. You can't really DYE black another color. You have to remove some or all of the black first. You can do something called 'discharging' or 'discharge dyeing' where you strip some or all of the black out with bleach or other color remover, all over or in a pattern. If you like how that turns out, leave it, if not overdye with your color of choice, and at least the bleached part will show some color change.

Don't leave any kind of color remover on for very long - it can damage the spandex and ruin the fabric, so follow timing directions carefully if you care about the dress. Good luck.

Here are some links about various kinds of discharge dyeing.

  2. Black doesn't really dye into another color.

  3. Black dye is tough to redye over.  However, they do make something called a color remover. I believe Rit dye has one. You may want to try that or just bleach the heck out of the dress.  I do caution that you should try this on an item with the same blend and color to see if this would truly work on your dress. I used to dye stuff all the time when I had my own washer.  Also, keep in mind that rayon will tend to shrink a bit when exposed to hot water.
