Fabrice Santoro replaces injured Greg Rusedski in AEGON Masters Tennis Tournament – Tennis News
Fabrice Santoro will replace Greg Rusedski because Briton tennis player can’t take part in AEGON Masters Tennis tournament due to a severe foot injury. His retirement opened doors for the ‘Little Magician’ to hit the courts once
again and entertain the crowd with his magic of trickery at the court. The tournament will be contested in Royal Albert Hall from Friday November 2nd – 4th, next month.
Briton legendary player was injured last month while contesting in the Champions Tour tournament in Santiago, Spain. Frenchman has his opportunity to bring back those glory days that stunned the crowd with his unorthodox game play
and deliberate trickery that was totally something alien to his opponents. His tricks could were never performed again with the same mastery and such a talent is definitely born once in a lifetime.
38-year-old, Santoro, was delighted on playing this tournament but at the same time was sad for his colleague Rusedski for his foot injury. He said “I am very excited to be playing on the ATP Champions Tour for the first time in
London at the AEGON Masters Tennis. I have been looking forward to having the chance to play on this Tour and I feel lucky to be able to do this at the Royal Albert Hall. I have heard from many of the players what an incredible venue and event it is, and I
look forward to experiencing that and also having the chance to play again with some of my old friends and rivals."
He holds a very strange record of having played all four Grand Slam titles in four different decades; it started from the Roland Garros French Open in 1979 and it ended with Australian Open in 2010. Rusedski was extremely disappointed
at his unavailability for the tournament. He proclaimed that his ligament in the foot is still not healed properly so it is highly risky to participate in the tournament, carrying an injury at this veteran age.
Frenchman will join the likes of alluring Moroccan Younes El Aynaoui and hot favourite Tim Henman in Group A’s round robin matches. There is a doubles category matches also been played that will feature the awesome Mansour Bahrami,
stylish Peter McNamara, elegant Jeremy Bates, cheeky Mikael Pernfors and prolific Andrew Castle. All these players will be included in the doubles competition.
London crowd is eager to see the veterans in action because they don’t want to miss out on some of the old stylish tennis action that was slow in pace but was full of grace.
