Fabricio Coloccini proud to succeed Kevin Nolan as Newcastle United captain – EPL News
Influential Newcastle United centre-back, Fabricio Coloccini, has expressed his delight on being named as the new skipper of the Magpies and has claimed it is the proudest moment of his career.
Coloccini was named Newcastle’s skipper after the Toon’s highly influential captain, Kevin Nolan, left the Tyneside club in a controversial move to West Ham United a few weeks earlier.
A number of players including Joey Barton, Steve Harper and Steven Taylor were overlooked for the captaincy role as Alan Pardew decided to award Coloccini the captaincy.
Coloccini has stated that he is very proud to wear Newcastle United’s captain arm-band which had been previously worn by club legend Alan Shearer.
Coloccini told Newcastle United official website, “I am thrilled to be named captain of Newcastle United. It is one of the proudest moments of my career.”
Newcastle United will play their first Barclays Premier League match of the next season against Arsenal at St. James Park. The 29-year-old defender said, “Leading the team out in front of our supporters in our first game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 will be a great honour for me and I aim to give my best for the team and the supporters throughout the season.”
Fabricio Coloccini is determined to repay the faith shown in him by Pardew and asserted that he will give his best for the Magpies next season.

After initially struggling to adapt to the rigours of Barclays Premier League in his first season, Coloccini has gone on to prove his mettle in the last two seasons.
The Argentinean was one of the standout performers for the club when they earned instant promotion to Barclays Premier League ahead of the 2010/11 season.
