John Edwards Admits to Affair, Denies He's Father of Lover's Child

Friday, August 08, 2008

John Edwards admitted to an affair with his former videographer, Rielle Hunter, in an interview with ABC News, though he denies tabloid reports that he is the father of her child.

In the interview, scheduled to be broadcast Friday night on ABC's Nightline, the former North Carolina senator said he repeatedly lied about the affair during his failed presidential campaign.

He told ABC News that he didn't love Hunter, 42, and knew he wasn't the father of her child because of the timing of the baby's birth on Feb. 27.

  1. The rules are different for the rich and famous, aren't they!

  2. hahahahahaha

i feel sorry for his wife but then again, she was dissin Hillary.. what goes around comes around!

  3. I remember feeling so bad for him and his wife...and how I thought he was a good man and a good husband. He fooled more then one person.

  4. What says me, a tree-hugging progressive liberal? I can't say I'm not disappointed. That doesn't mean that the man doesn't do really good work and doesn't have a good heart. I think the smartest, most well-intentioned people can do some really stupid things that shock even themselves. But, unlike some,  I don't gloat when someone screws up. In a truly civilized world, we'd know more about the human rights abuses that China's getting away with than the all-important front-page news of who's effing who. Every politician lies. This is an undisputed fact. Most just don't get caught!

EDIT: Actually I don't "gloat" when Bush or any of his friends "mis-speak", I just shake my head and mourn for the fictional shining-beacon-of-the-world chicken-in-every-pot version of America I was sold as a kid.

Oh and by the way, I don't have a party. I vote Democrat more of the time because I simply have a slightly larger dislike of Republicans. At least on a national level. That doesn't mean they're my party! Locally, I vote for the person that will get the job done.

  5. It is so nice to have great reporting from the National Enquirer, scooped them all didn't they.

Edwards a liar, he is an ambulance chasing lawyer at that.

  6. Are you surprised?  Feel sorry for his wife who is fighting breast cancer and now she learns about her "wandering" husband.

  7. I think the man (?) is a horse's patookus.

Here he is repeatedly denying this while his wife is dealing with incurable cancer.  All of a sudden the pretty boy image has lost whatever shine it appeared to have.

Apparently he wanted to lead this nation not aware that the public, going back to Watergate, will NOT tolerate lying from its' leadership.

History by definition is bound to repeat itself.
