Face-down posture: Colorado Avalanche’s rookie Gabriel Landeskog dubbed Tim Tebow of NFL-NHL News
The city of Denver has made headlines again and this time around it is the Colorado Avalanche’s rookie forward, Gabriel Landeskog, dubbed as Tim Tebow of the National Football League (NFL), whose face-down posture has triggered local fans’ rampage on social media networks.
However, Landeskog’s posture is accidental rather than deliberate as Tebow’s, whose kneeling down on the knee had been a popular stunt of the National Football League (NFL) 2011 season.
Landeskog came face down on the ice, bent on knees and fists clenched near to his head, just after scoring the winning goal in Colorado's 3-2 victory over Anaheim Ducks, on March 12, 2012.
He had joined the squad unexpectedly after he was confirmed to miss the game with a bout of flu.
Nothing was noticeable or to cheer around the pose, and the teammates and spectators, have remained ignorant to it.
However, since then the social-media networks audience has made the posture the most talked about picture among them. It has a huge number of followings on the leading social networking sites.
The player himself had come to realise it through the social media. He later followed it on his Twitter account, with more 22,000 fans requesting him for uploading his best pictures.
He said:
"I think it's pretty funny. I think it's our fans and how great they are with coming up with funny things and how involved they are. It's a lot of fun. Denver is a great sports city with the fans, social media and everything."
Landeskog said of the incident:
"I didn't have any energy. Then when I scored I was just so relieved I fell to the ice. And then this guy tweeted a picture and said he was Landeskoging and said it was the new Tebowing."
A number of fans while offering their respective comments on the posture, leading a spree of unfinished discussion in different perspectives.
Surprisingly, nothing has been commented on the hype by the teammates or other members of his team.
However, they are reported to have knowledge of it and might be coming out with their respective contribution at some point.
Meanwhile, the player said that in spite of the fans created saga, he was very much focused on the game. His performance is going to be crucial to Avalanche’s wins.
The team is desperate for two points to claim the last spot of playoffs contenders from the Western Conference.
It is a must win situation for them, and the player said he was aware of the situation and remained focused on his form.
Earlier, the city of Denver remained abuzz with the kneeling-down stunt of Tim Tebow, who used to pose after winning a game in the National Football League (NFL). However, his posture was deliberate, while also generating some controversy around it.
