Question:

Face shape after braces

I have an overbite. I have 6 months left of treatment. The next time I go I'm getting a heavy wire put on my top. I don't know if that wire will move my jaw(it did with my mom). I'm not getting rubber bands. I might get the herbst appliance put on after I get them off. But anyway, my face kinda looks weird. Its not that I'm ugly, because there are many guys that think I'm pretty hot. I was wondering if your jaw moves from braces, does it change the shape of your face. Like with your jawline or chin. And maybe your nose? If you've had this experience, please tell me how different you looked.

  1. it might change your jawline a little, but it wouldn't change your nose.  the changes will not be that noticeable though.

  2. yes, it will change the position of your jaw, but it shouldn't be obvious to other people. You will notice but chances are no one else will

  3. The changes will not really be noticable but your jawline will move slighty. If getting the Herbst appliance, that will change your face a little bit. There are two bolts that give you the sort of "chipmunk cheek" sort of look. However right of the bat your overbite is re-corrected, though your cheeks will be really sore. Use LOTS of wax. your chin will move forward slightly right after getting the Herbst. But thats only IF your getting the Herbst. =P Goodluck
