On facebook I have my real friends and people that I know but dont really care about. On the facebook home update page I am interested in what my friends are doing but dont really care so much about the others. Is there any way that I can 'Mute' these people that I dont care about but not delete them?

  1. Yes it is, you can block them, so you cannot contact them. You go to the side bar at the top and then privacy settings then block list. You type the name of the person you want to block, then it should search facebook for the name. Normally several names will come up, choose the person you want to block, then it should go darkish on the button you press, wait a few seconds and it should take you to a block list, then it says the names of the people you've blocked, where their, school/workplace is and it'll give you the option to un-block them, eg 'Remove'

  3. Yes- you can prevent a particular person's updates from appearing in your news feed. Just hover your cursor over one of their posts, and the word "hide" will appear in the upper right corner of that post. Click it, and select "hide [person's name]". That person's posts will no longer show up in your news feed, but they will remain one of your "friends".
