Sharks are fish. Theoretically, all organisms get cancer, because all have the ability to evolve. What makes the shark to unlikely to get cancer is the ease of their lives and the perfection of their evolution. They do not need to evolve and mutate and they have little stresses that causes DNA changes. That is why sharks are unlikely to mutate, if they do at all.

Everyone is right, sharks are fish, not mammals.  But as far as not getting cancer, that is a myth.

Sharks are known to get cancer and other diseases it is just their immune system seems to be able to fight off certain strains of cancer and other illnesses better than other animals.  They still have yet to figure out exactly what it is about sharks that gives them an advantage on some diseases but they are working on it.

Nonetheless they can get cancer.

Sharks are not mammals, and to the person thinking they are because some species of shark (not all) give live birth to their offspring...live birth is not a uniquely mammalian trait.  There are other fish and reptiles that also give live birth, and monotreme mammals lay eggs.  Live birth is simply a common trait among mammals, not a defining one.

As for cancer.  Sharks are known not to get bone cancer.  This is because they do not have bones.  Their skeletons are made of cartilage.  They absolutely can get other types of cancer.
