  1. w^2-5w-14

    (w+7) (w-2)

    2y^2+9y+4

    (2y+1) (y+4)

    4p^2+164p+81

    (2p +1) (2p + 81)

    4x^2-49

    (2x+7) (2x-7)

I don't mind doing them.. but really, this is something important to learn... you should practice! don't take it offensively, just trying to be nice :D

  2. w² - 5w - 14 = (w - 7)(w + 2)

mrs_ joel...'s incredible math abilities seem to have failed her on the first expression.  The factorization is not (w + 7)(w - 2), as mrs_joel... claims.  Notice that her factorization yields the trinomial w² + (7w - 2w) - 14 = w² + 5w - 14, which is incorrect.

    2y² + 9y + 4 = (2y + 1)(y + 4)

    4p² + 164p + 81 = (2p + 1)(2p + 81)

    4x² - 49 = (2x + 7)(2x - 7)

Remember, for a binomial which is the difference of two perfect squares, a² - b², its factorization is (a + b)(a - b).
