  1. Social anthropology is interesting and fun. Sociology is all about statistics and is boooring.

  2. Both have to do with the study of social groups with anthropology having had its origins in colonial times and initially set up for the purpose of trying to understand  peoples such as arabs, africans, islanders and aboriginals etc.  The subject of the 'other' being subjects of colonial realms.  That's why it's often said that anthropology is a dying field of study, since it can't escape its colonial roots that are fundamentally flawed.

Anthropology nowadays is seen to be reinventing itself to include the study of more diverse social groupings such as the lifestyle and habits of rappers in Tokyo.  The discipline of anthropology today has more to do with how to approach the study of 'smallish' groups of people ~ borrowing from past experiences of observer/participant methodology and raising theoretical debates to do with cultural relativity and degrees of objectivity and subjectivity of the observer, etc.  Clifford Geertz is my favorite anthropologist by the way, by far!

Sociology traditionally takes in large swathes of human activity and groupings, as well as smaller urban types of dwellings.
