Im going to be installing a new amp and subwoofers into my car. Since ill be doing this, i was thinking i should replace my factory speakers also. Is there much of a difference between factory speakers and cheap, walmart speakers? i dont want to spend much money on them, but figured if there was much of a difference between factory and any others, why not. the car is a pontiac grand am with monsoon stereo system.

  1. I would just keep them until they blow... then buy some aftermarket speakers. you can buy some really nice ones for an inexpensive price.

  2. Replacing speakers in a Monsoon-equipped vehicle is much trickier than replacing speakers in a standard factory audio system.  You would have to bypass the factory amplifier, which is only practical if you also replace the factory head unit.  If you're keeping the stock radio, then you should probably keep the stock speaker system, at least until you can afford to purchase high quality speakers and do it right.
