  1. Hamsters will eat ANYTHING in sight.

Be sure you give the new little hammy something to chew on.

Make sure u get more than one thing, because other wise hamsters will chew on things like the cage.

Oh and i suggest u get a large, PLASTIC, cage for the new hammy because the metal wire cages can

A- Hurt your hamster when they walk on the floor (their paws can get jammed in the bottom and perhaps even break it)

B- Hamsters love chewing as i said earlier, they like to chew on the metal wire and when they do they can risk breaking their teeth.

And depending on how big of a hamster u buy, with Syrian Hamsters i have never bought pipes for connecting, because most Syrian Hamsters tend to get really big and cant fit in them.

I have dwarf hamsters so i have the connecting pipes, due to their size.

Hope this helps you with your new hammy, good luck :]

  2. What I find amusing is, you never want to wake up your hamster. Wait until the hamster is awake as, often times they become VERY cranky and they'll give you a 'look of doom' as I call it, if you wake them up. Lol.

Also. :3 They LOVE to stash food and often times if you hold a hamster and offer it food, it will stash it in it's cheeks and hold all of it there until you put the hamster back. I know they do this on their own, but if you want a close up view of it, hold the hamster and offer it a sunflower seed. Watch what it does.

X3 And good luck with your hamster.

They're amazingly funny and I love mine.

  3. Hamsters Luuurrrrvvveee sand baths. If you have a couple of extra pounds/dollars ect. lying around, get yourself some chinchilla SAND, NOT DUST. and put some onto a plate/bowl/plant pot, and watch your hamster roll around like crazy! This helps keep the fur nice and oil free, and smelling good. Sometimes hamsters will tend to eat the sand or take no interest. Then you should try again later, as we don't want the hamster getting ill or he may just not be in a play ful mood. If he doesn't like it after a few attempts, it's best to abandon the idea and go back to what he/she does like!

It may not be factual, but it's not something a lot of people know!
