Fade on panasonic video camera?

I have a panaosonic video camera and every time I start or stop recording it fades in and out. I need to know how to get it to stop doing that. Any ideas?

  1. There should be a menu option to turn that off, but without knowing which camcorder you've got I can't be specific.
