Fadhilah Irfan, Anggraini Weni gain access to pre quarter-finals of SCG Thailand Open 2012
Indonesia’s Mixed Doubles campaigners Fadhilah Irfan and Anggraini Weni raised the country’s prospects in the SCG Thailand Open by powering their way to the pre quarter-finals on June 6, 2012.
They reserved the right to proceed by stamping Dae Eun Kim-A Ra Ko of Korea in CU Sports Complex of Bangkok.
This 55-minute tussle proved real test of fitness and they passed this with distinctive figures of 18-21, 21-17 and 21-15.
Indonesians are now scheduled to meet Sa Rang Kim-Hye In Choi to secure their berth in quarter-final round of the tournament.
Earlier in the opening match, the twosome of Fadhilah Irfan and Anggraini Weni forged a fruitful chemistry and outclassed their lower ranked rivals.
Though, they lost first set but still they clinched last two games and managed to end this nerve-racking tussle in their favour.
In first half of opening set, Dae Eun Kim-A Ra Ko showed great coordination as there were no signs of confusion all the way to game point situation.
They were standing at 9-11 before interval but they gathered speed in later part and caught the opposing team at 17-15. They pocketed first match point with a respectable total of 21-18.
The next game completely belonged to the Fadhilah and Anggraini who did not commit even a single mistake and saved the contest from being one-sided affair.
This time they manipulated every loophole and grabbed six points in the beginning. Though their competitors caught them at 8-8 but they restored their authority with 11-9 score until half time.
After mid-game break, the Indonesians accelerated pace and left their rivals far behind with 15-9. This lead helped them to place a decisive margin of 21-17 to setup third and final set.
The decider turned consequential as both teams were now standing just one step away from next round.
However, the seven seeded duo of the tournament stamped its supremacy by bagging final match point. Fadhilah and Anggraini got into commanding position straight away in start and maintained an upper hand until last shot was played.
They set the foundation of their victory by dominating with 11-8 in first half and then emerged as champions with significant figure of 21-15.
