Fadhilah Irfan, Anggraini Weni seal a spot in pre quarter-finals of Indonesia Open 2012
Indonesia’s Fadhilah Irfan and Anggraini Weni proved their point against Mohd Razif Abdul Latif-Amelia Alicia Anscelly in Djarum Indonesia Open and took their country to pre quarter-finals on June 13, 2012.
Both Mixed Doubles experts looked in prime touch in this 53-minute fight and raised hands as champions after reading final results of 18-21, 21-14 and 21-18.
Their next challenge will be to surpass compatriot duo Markis Kido-Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth and win will fetch a quarter-final seat for them.
In opening match of the contest, Fadhilah Irfan and Anggraini struggled a bit in start but they thundered in last two games and blew away their challengers.
On the other hand, the Malaysian campaigners frittered away their early advantage and got pale in final stage of the tussle.
The twosome of Razif Latif and Amelia Alicia had a scratchy start as they kept trailing behind in first half of the opening set. They could not withstand intensive assault of their challengers and remained grounded until 7-11.
After one-minute interval, they showed transformed character and played badminton with great precision. They prevailed in four rallies in a row and levelled score at 11-11 and then did not allow the opponents to gain a comfortable lead.
Both teams were equal at 18-18 when Razif and Amelia snatched last three points without interruption and placed a winning total of 21-18.
The Indonesians switched on the best after finding themselves one down and dazzled their competitors with a lustrous performance in second set.
They established a six-point advantage in no time which ensured their dominance with 11-7 in first part of game later.
After half time, they maintained their supremacy by raising their total to 15-9 in third quarter of the set.
This deficit proved too heavy for Malaysians as they could not lift this burden and knelt down after reading a 14-21 margin on the board.
The twosome of Razif and Amelia entered in third set with high shoulders and they utilised their confidence to survive this edgy battle.
Though, they had to face strong opposition right from the first shot to last one but they emerged as victors by registering a tight yet decisive figure of 21-18.
