Question:

Fafsa EFC 30... not qualified for Pell Grant?

I did my Fafsa pretty late this year (just decided around april to go back to school) and the report says my EFC is 30, but says i'm not qualified for a Federal Pell Grant... Does this mean that all the grant money that was available has run out, or could I have possibly filled out something wrong? (my parents only made

*together* around 25k in '07)

The only thing I can think of is my mom just got a PIN, and hasn't "signed" my FAFSA application yet. Though I'm having a hard time trying to do that.

If it -has- run out, do I have to get a loan for the whole year, or can the grant be given around december/january? Btw, this is my first time applying for college and fafsa. Its been a pain in my side.

Any advice would be great! :]

  1. You should be eligible for a Pell grant with an EFC that low.  It is possible that you answered a question on the form incorrectly that will bar you from receiving a Pell - like if you have already received a prior bachelors.  Once you receive your first Bachelors degree you can no longer benefit from Pell grant funding.

You should consult your financial aid office and have them review the application for possible errors, or to determine why you are in fact ineligible.
