Fafsa EFC?

Question

i checked my fafsa and it says that my "EFC is 3989 . You

may be eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant and other federal student aid."

I'm not quite sure what this means. What is an EFC? Does this mean I get approximately $4000?

That number is what you are expected to pay per year for your schooling.
