i got a 2478 is this good?

  1. All that number is telling you is how much the government thinks your family should contribute.  That is not a super high number so my guess is that you will get some grants.  Did it tell you if you qualified for a pell grant.  My EFC was much higher and still got some subsidized loans so you should be good.  The number is never a bad or good thing so don't worry about it.  Your schools will send you packages real soon that will explain the details.


  2. Our EFC was about the same, and for enrolling half-time in college (6 credit hours), we received about $350 in pell grant per semester.  We were offered other forms of financial aid, including work-study and loans, but turned them down.  

    See if the financial aid office at your school offers scholarships -  we applied, and also received an addition $250.  It doesn't seem like much at all, but every little bit helps.
