Question:

Fafsa award help???

I have filled out my Fafsa with the information that I would be a full time student this Fall. (Full time at my school is 7 credits or more).

I was awarded (in grants and loans) about $6,200 for the semster.

My counselor and I were talking and we figured out I only need 6 more credits to graduate.

If I enroll as a part time student in the fall, will my Fafsa award decrease? (I have already accepted them, but will not receive the award until late August).

Should I take a dummy course for one more credit to receive my full award?

  1. Yes, your Pell Grant (which I'm assuming you have) will decrease because the only way you can get the maximum amount of Pell you are eligible for is to maintain full-time student status.  I would recommend taking something that doesn't pertain to your major but looks interesting because at least you'll get the full award then.
