Fafsa..marriage..tax return..?

if i get married after our taxes are filed as single, will my fafsa be affected? in other words... can i still apply considered 'married' even tho our tax returns were filed as 'single'? thanks :)

  1. If you get married then yes, you file the fafsa with both your incomes....combining the income tax returns together on the fafsa as if you were married (even if you weren't).

    Remember however, if you already did your fafsa (say last week) and you get married today... you can't go back and correct your fafsa.  Your marital status is determined on the day you fill it out and sign it.  So even if you get married today, it won't.... and can't... be changed if you filled it out last week.

    Your marriage will not be reflected until you do a fafsa next year (Feb-March 2009) for the 2009-2010 academic year.
