Fahy enters a staggering 20 greyhounds in Irish Derby
Ireland’s leading owner P.J. Fahy has set what is surely a world record in submitting a total number of twenty entrants into this year’s Irish Derby.
The Derby will be held at Shelbourne next Thursday and is renowned to being Europe’s largest contest.

The prize on offer is €120,000 for the winner. Can Fahy be the one to claim the prize and prestigious title this year?
He stated a week ago that he hoped to have at least twelve Derby runners but a total of twenty is humungous and will certainly enhance his chances.
There is massive quality present amongst his twenty, here at Bettor.com we have looked into the top six we feel can go the distance.

Tyrur Big Mike (16-1)
Record: Won 8 from 17 races
The ante-post markets have favoured Big Mike out of the Tyrur clan. The April 2008 youngster has run a total of 17 races and is currently ranked 18th in Ireland based on prize money.
Good form should be expected having run just last week in the final of the Townview Food Champion Stakes, where he was unfortunate to miss out on the €20,000 prize by half-a-length to Makeshift.
Mike tends to perform better starting wide and you can be sure that he will be ready to burn the sand when he pings the lids next week.

Tyrur Enda (20-1)

Record: Won 5 from 9 races
Enda has developed extremely fast, and acquires a reasonably decent record for a greyhound which hasn’t run a great number of races.
He’s biggest achievement came in the Shelbourne A3 525m final in October last year, when he bagged the €1000 prize for connections.
A wide trap draw would see him make things interesting on any night, and you can expect his form to continue to improve.

Tyrur Lohan (33-1)
Record: Won 3 of 5 races
Lohan hasn’t competed on Irish turf since November 2009 but has always displayed great use of early pace and manages to have enough stamina to hold off any threat once in lead.
Suited for a trap two start.

Tyrur Brennan (40-1)

Record: Won 7 from 15 races
The wide seeded runner has earned connections a total of €7,200 from 15 races.
He’s largest prize claim (€5,000 )came in the Hegarty Bookmakers Open 600m final where he finished the runner-up in May.
Recent form has dipped slightly.

Tyrur Bucko (40-1)

Record: Won 16 from 41 races
Bucko has had a fantastic year so far earning connections €14,275.
The July 2007 born change is ranked 14th in Ireland and is the current Cox Cup Open champion over 550m after clocking 29.51sec in June.
Very fast when he gets out, should go a long way in the competition.

Tyrur Dylan (66-1)

Record: Won 6 from 21 races
Performing below par recently, needs to break good, and trap two seems to suit him nicely.
He’s biggest success came in December when landing the Bernard Barry Bookmaker A1 575 final.

List of other 14 runners representing Fahy:
Tyrur McGuigan (66-1), Tyrur Biggs (80-1), Tyrur Richie (125-1), Tyrur Tadgh (150-1), Tyrur Noone (200-1), Tyrur Gerado (250-1), Tyrur Thursday (250-1), Tyrur Leo (250-1), Tyrur Lucky (250-1), Tyrur Dougie (250-1), Tyrur Heavey (500-1), Tyrur Valdez (500-1), Tyrur Clint (500-1) and Tyrur Brian (500-1)
Fahy’s injection has taken the total number of entries this year to the 144 mark, a figure which will continue to increase until this evening when entries officially close.
The draw will take place on Tuesday, with the first round to be held over Thursday- Friday- Saturday next week.
