Failed applicants will not get chance to buy London 2012 Olympics tickets this year
The organizers of the London 2012 Olympics have recently revealed that the people who registered an application for tickets both the first as well as the second time but have not been successful will not be able to put up another application this year.
This announcement has added to the already prevalent sense of disappointment and frustration amongst people who have been disappointed by the ticketing process of the London Olympic Games.
In the second round of chance ticket sales that started this Friday, June 24, about 15,000 people have been left empty handed despite the fact that they had submitted their applications successfully. This confusion arose because of the failure of the software
called Ticketmaster that is being used to operate the ticket sales. The applicants thought that their requests were being registered whereas the ticketing system was not live, which in effect meant that people were submitting their applications for tickets
that had already been sold out.
The first round of ticket sales saw 700,000 successful applicants finally getting their hands on their tickets. Of these lucky few, not all were satisfied with what they got after the long wait when they opened up their emails to see seats for events they
did not want to go to.
This disappointment was more prevalent among the 1.2 million people whose applications did not get selected in the first round but they were given the assurance that they will be accommodated in the second. The second round of ticket sales is open till the
3rd of July but a significant chunk of the two-time unsuccessful candidates have been given assurance again.
A spokeswoman for the Olympics organizers addressed the issue in the following manner: ‘Our aim is to get as many of these people as possible to the Games and we are thinking and working through how we are going to do that.’
In case the organizers do chalk out a way to get these numerous applicants a ticket next year, they will not be getting to watch any of the popular sports in the Olympics as the desirable sports events have been sold out. The sports that still remain on
the market are football, volleyball and wrestling.
