Faint positive and not pregnant?

Question

Has anyone gotten a faint positive and end up not being pregnant? I took a hpt this morning and got a very faint second line. I know a positive is a positive but I don't want to get my hopes up if there is any chance I'm not pregnant. I will test again first thing in the morning tomorrow because I didn't use my first morning urine and my period is not late but I feel pretty pregnant (nausea, tired, dizzy)

An HPT tells you exactly one thing: your urine either has detectable pregnancy hormone in it, or it doesn't. The darkness or lightness of a line doesn't mean much. Generally speaking, a very light line can mean there is a small amount of hCG in your urine, and a very dark line can mean there is a larger amount of hCG in your urine. This is why you may get a faint positive at 10 DPO but a darker positive at 18 DPO. However, this is not always true. Tests are all different, and even tests in the same box may differ in sensitivity. Comparing light/dark lines will just drive you nuts. If you see a line in the "results" window, you're preg!

Positive is a positive :)  I had a faint positive with my last pregnancy. It was so faint i thought i was seeing things.  Try a digital one 'pregnant' 'not pregnant' :)  Congrats

it is rare that you will get a false positive.

so your chances are pretty good

but stranger things have happened so do not get your hopes up and re-test tomorrow morning with your first urine of the day.

Every positive I've ever gotten (faint or not) has been accurate.  Try using a First Response test.  They are good if you were unsure about the first test because the results show up very clearly.  Best of luck and congratulations!

Many answers!  when i found out that I was pregnant with my little girl I was in a hospital bed getting ready to go and have litotripsy done! The nurses came and got me and said that I was pregnant!  The line on the test that they used was VERY light so I didn't believe them...so in about 20 minutes I did another one!  It was positive too!

So therefore I tell you that a positive is a positive! faint line or not, if it's there then your going to be a mommy! CONGRATS!

Yes, if you didn't take the test correctly and looked too closely you can see an evaporation line that looks like a faint positive. Sometimes if you want to see the line bad enough, you will find a way to see it!

Test again tomorrow like you said. Only read the test within the time window it recommends. Throw it out after that!
