Question:

Fainting/Slight Seizure - DTP and MMR shots?

During my school year my class had to get the Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis vaccine as well as the one for Mumps, Measels and Rubella in one day. After my shot, in only about two minutes, while the nurse was completing the form she had to fill out, I ended up fainting, and I also had a slight seizure. They layed me down for a while, and took my blood pressure many times before the let me get up. What could have caused this to happen? I was not on any medications, and I was not pregnant, and I was not sick to start with. Could it have anything to do with some type of allergic reaction?

Thanks :)

  1. That was not an allergic reaction, although they do happen.  Allergic reactions would include hives, itching, or trouble breathing.

Fainting and seizures are recognized complications/side effects from vaccines.

You can see that you are not the only one who has had those reactions, if you search the VAERS database here. http://www.medalerts.org

I recommend that you do not receive any further vaccines.  If you are in the U.S., 48 states have non-medical exemptions from school vaccine requirements.  All 50 states offer medical exemptions, but they are usually harder to get.
