Why are Democrats in favor of this cause. Shouldn't the dissemination of information be in the hands of the people and not regulated by the government?

  1. they don't understand that radio stations will just pull all political shows because they can't afford the fines or the team of lawyers to avoid the fines. It will kill radio.

  2. I agree with you.  I don't want the government telling me what I should and should not listen to.  Many democrats are just angry because liberal talk shows are exposing the truth and they cannot contend with them.  It's a free country and if you don't agree with something, don't listen to it.  The fairness doctrine is anything but fair.

  3. Leftists have lost the battle of ideas on the radio.  So, rather than question their ideas, they want government to compel people to listen to what they didn't want to hear voluntarily.  It would be funny if it weren't so scary.

  4. Yes, the fairness doctrine is illogical and could be used against the Democrats just as easily. Besides, doesn't it really show a pathetic and insecure complex on the side of the left?

  5. Your question misses the mark.

It isn't that democrats favor the cause of the fairness doctrine, it's an objection to use of public airways to promote one brand of politics (right wing).

Turn on your car am radio anywhere in this great land and there they are.  Limpdog, Handjob, O'Really and Savage.

This is what happens, Al, when unregulated capitalism runs amok.    Clear Channel or whoever should not be able to take over the entire am dial, no more than you should be able to run all the rackets in NewYork and Miami.

The mob is run my muscle but free societies should not have one god father.

  6. I'm a liberal,and I HATE it.

    It's so stupid.

    Your totally right

It shouldn't be regulated by the government

This isn't Communist China,North Korea, and the former Soviet Union

  7. It should be called the Unfairness Doctrine.  It clearly tries to limit freedom of political speech.

Democrats are not in favor of freedom.  They want the government to run everything.  They want to run the government.

It is just an illegal gimmick to try to stifle conservative talk radio.  That is all it applies to.
