Fairoak Lad tipped to win the Molson Coors Marathon Handicap Chase
Fairoak Lad is tipped to win the Molson Coors Marathon Handicap Chase at Exeter in England on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. The winner of the class-3 race will be awarded a cash prize of £6,330.
A total of nine runners have been attracted towards the race, which is scheduled to start at 15:30 GMT. Following are the names of the confirmed entries: Spring Moon, Kaybeew, Fairoak Lad, Sea Saffron, Jolly Boys Outing, Key Cutter, Dennis The Legend, Pairc
Na Gcapall and Ethiopia.
The stamina of all runners will be put to a stern test today, as the total distance to cover is 3 miles, 6 furlongs and 110 yards. Furthermore, the going will be good in the race.
The bookies have full faith in the abilities of Fairoak Lad, who has a decent record in races while chasing. However, his overall strike rate is not much impressive, thus the punters will be reluctant to invest money in his favour.
The nine-year-old gelding has participated in seven chase races, winning a couple of them. In addition to that, he has secured one third place as well, which shows that he is capable of fighting for top positions.
However, the recent form of today’s favourite runner has not been impressive, which means that he might struggle to finish on top of the table in the end. He finished fourth in his previous outing and will need to make a big improvement in order to challenge
the rest of the runners.
The Philip Hobbs’ trained gelding will be partnered by Richard Johnson, who is a terrific competitor and has managed to win 257 chase races. The veteran rider has got an impressive strike rate and he will be looking forward to use all his experience in today’s
race as well.
Other than the race favourite runner, Spring Moon will also be the one to watch out for in the race. He has participated in five chase races, but has not won any of them until now. However, he has secured the runner up spot on four occasions, which shows
his potential.
The seven-year-old gelding has performed really well in recent times and his trainer, Martin Keighley, will be expecting him to bring up his maiden victory today.
