  1. From what i've heard, fairys are a lot like angel, or they are angels, but, very rare ones. A few people have claimed to have seen them, i've heard they are usually the angels over the animals, and nature....Bella

  2. "fairy" is a bit of a generalisation. In folklore the most common picture that people think of is the faeries dancing in the garden etc.

Most Faeries are elemental beings specifically set to look after the growth of plant(s). Gardens with alot of leafy vegetation like bushes will have a higher chance of having a stronger presence of faeries.

As for what powers they have..If you are adverse to nature they will sense it in you and be opposed to you, while the opposite is also true. They help those who love and cherish nature and hold life to be sacred.  Faeries being close to Earth and its element have powers relating to that realm. They can bring fortune or ruin to those they encounter. They can mess with your job, home life or health to influence them for the better or worse according to their will.

I had a possible fairy encounter. I was once in my garden at a particular spot that has a strong elemental presence. I sat down with a heavy heart about finding a new job.. I sensed as I was admiring the beauty of creation that my hearts desire had been "granted", I felt a weight lift. Within three days I had the perfect job! Fairy or not who knows, but I know I received some help from somewhere! And that is in the realms of their power!

    Love and light.

  3. Fairies powers come from the earth.  If it has to do with nature, they can affect it.  There are all kinds, they are elementals. Some can use fire, water, air and earth. They are the keepers of all that is natural.

  4. Fairies encompass a vast plethora of magical and elemental beings from a myriad of cultural milieus. Among their many powers are the ability to cloud men's minds, to be invisible, to kill by stealth and to alter the perception of time. Read a few books on folklore, the complete Golden Bough by Frazer would be a good start

  5. The Faeries were the old Gods of Ireland.

    The Tuatha de Danann.

Centuries of christian influence has somewhat diminished their status in modern culture.  They weren't always little winged people in the garden.  They walked amongst men.  They were considered superior in most ways, and were worshipped.  They were masters of magic.  They were also masters of knowledge, poetry, music, and war.

If, however you are writ ting a work of fiction, you can give them whatever powers you like.  Whatever lineage you like.

Google Tuatha de Danann if you want to more about their history though.

  6. Magic, Zoe, is universal. We humans can all use it, although we don't. Those from the land of the Faries, however, are taught how to use it as children, and soon learn that it can snap back at you rather nastily, so rather than show humans how to use it, they have convinced them that it doesn't exist. Humans are very primitive in their thinking, and are prone to do stupid things without thinking. The form of magic the Fairy people mostly use is that form which changes attitudes, not things. That way they can undo something if it goes wrong, which they can't do with changed things. Well, not without a LOT of bother.

OK, girl - over to you. See if you can do something with that thought and expand on it.

  7. If you are writing a book fairies can do whatever they d**n want! Fiction means fiction so let your imagination go wild and enjoy writing the book.

  8. well mostly their abilities are based on displacement of reality, meaning that they can change certain environments or even memories to suit their purposes. they can even alter a persons perception of reality (similar to hypnosis) that leaves the subject feeling that they are dreaming, which causes quite alot of confusion when the human eventually wakes up somewhere completely differend and four hours of their live vanished in three seconds.

none of my research notes contain any information on lethal faerie majiks.
